I've been looking into a hi-end battery for my '02 SS. Considering the Optima (either their Red top or Yellow top) and the new Sears Platinum which is also using AGM technology. Would appreciate any info/experience that some of you may have on these. Note: the car does not get driven much (stored for months at a time) thats why I am considering the Optima deep cycle (yellow top)......... thanks

I don't have experience with either, but Optimas come highly recommended from folks I ran with in FL.

I haven't had a problem with my DieHard batteries. Have had several people tell me that their stocker ACDelcos leaked and got battery acid all over their components near the tray. Mine did in the Montana van.

Note to all: If you have an ACDelco battery, get rid of it at the first sign of failure (if not sooner...).

Optima as well here too. I have the red topper. I am only home on the weekends so my car only gets started maybe once a week, and every time I fire the car up the battery hasn't failed yet. Besides the red just looks cool with my car!:D

The newest Consumer Reposts rank the Platinum 50090 over the Optima red top. They were 1 & 2 in group 34/78 & 78. But DieHard avg. price $180. Optima $150.
DieHard had excellent all three results. Optima had excellent in Life, CCA and good on reserve capacity. Warranty- DieHard = 48/100. Optima=36/72. Dang I hate typing
