What a bummer Jim. But as treasurer, you do have funds at your disposal.:(

 that sucks. but look on the bright side you dont have a 4l60e. You can get one heck of a rebuild on your trans for alot less $$$$$$$$$$. It cost me around 1500 for my a4 its a beast now(neck snaping shifts:):):):)

B&M offers a master rebuild kit that comes with everything that they use in their transmissions they sell. Comes with a full instructions, the good clutches, etc for 220.00. That looks like clutch material in the pan. I lost 3rd and reverse from too much heat off the 3000 stall. I put a quart of Lucas trans fix in it and got em back. Get you a bottle of it if you decide to fut it back together cause it works! I wouldn't believe it unless I did it myself. 3rd only slips when I'm going up a good size hill now, and I put it in before G11.

I tried the Lucas Tranny fix over the last 3 weeks or so Kenny...didn't help. I'm gonna see if I can get a hold of a governor today, otherwise, I'll put it back together and haul it to the shop...I just don't know when...

yeah that's a good bit of material there, prob too far gone to work. You may consider getting a B&M torquemaster converter, they call it a 2000, I had one in my chevelle, it felt like the stock one except when I got on it off the line it gave about 300 more rpm. they are only $100, the cost of a stock one. Having that much material in the fluid, and the cost of a trans job, it may be something to think about. Also it will alow you more of a range for a mild cam selection in the future.shiftin

I don't know what the stall is, but it does have a better than stock converter (or so I was told), a mild cam. Couldn't find a governor, a good tranny man said it should mic to .800 but .798 would be tolerable...mine mic'd to .788-and there's not one in town...
Checkin with Jakeshoe (on NastyZ) to see about oredering one...in the meantime, I have to put it back together. I may call Summit and see if they stock one...if so, road trip today.

I was lookin at those a little bit ago. I like that idea, it'll put me out of commission for several weeks, but I can deal with that.

Jeff if he has a 400 check to see if it is a short tailshaft or long. The long would require cutting the driveshaft and Jim would also need a yoke for that trans.

The TCI streetfighter would be your best bet if you could do it. I got a few buds that have em and they'll take alot of abuse.

I have a new governor coming from Jakeshoe...he said it's supposed to mic to .800 , mine however mic'd to .788 , so he said that could be why it's only slipping when it gets hot. I'm gonna talk to the guy I bought the car from too, not that it will do any good...

I think you should go after the 700r4. That's a non electronic overdrive. Basically it's a 400 with the extra gear.

If I need a new tranny, I may do that Dean.
I'm thinkin that the governor might just do the trick...it really doesn't slip until it gets hot...so I'm hoping for the best. Should have it by the end of the week, and prayin it works...
