ok out there....I don't want to sound ignorant, however I am. In finding a "deal" what do you look at. I know mileage is important as, that could mean money being spent for new transmission, new engine, all sorts of things (not unless it was one of those finds in a lifetime, where Grandpa just drove around getting away from Grandma ;) ) In simple language, please what do you look for in purchasing a used vehicle. (lucky for me I have never gone used at this time..but cars built today are cow dung IMO) What are the advantages to buying used? What do you look at in overall condition? (cuz you can always do a supremo paint job,) I also don't know how to tell if the car has been used as a speedway test car, burns nitrious, etc. oh yeah one more thing where do you go to find these cars?

sorry it has taken me so long to reply to these posts. I live near Albany Georgia. (haven't for very long) To be honest with you, I am starting over and won't be able to do anything until about a year from now. This is one of the reasons, I am starting now. I need to know all I can so I won't be suckered in when I am ready. People have accused me of being an easy sale. I believe in what people tell me. So this time around I am being very cautious, will ask questions, and have experts look over everything before I put my hard earned cash down.

When you are ready I can find you anything you want. We don't take advantage of people around here. That is what a club is for to help other CAMARO lovers.

If I might interject here... I would recommend doing research on what model year you would like to pursue before you actively start looking. There are marked differences between "generations" in price, asthetics, performance, and repair costs so it helps to narrow it down. (I love the 69 Camaro, but I simply cannnot afford them in my current situation as a stay at home Mom).
Also, since you are new to the used car scene, learn what to look for in a used car by boning up on reading about it. I found an article at Cars.com for that might help:Buying Advice (http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp?section=buy&subject=how_buy&story=intro&referer=advice&aff=national) At the very least bring a friend who is knowledgable or agree to have a mechanic look over the car (for a nominal fee). At least you'll know what your buying. This saved me a lot of money in negotiations on the used cars I've bought.
Finally, women are emotional creatures by nature and tend to "fall" for a car. Staying nuetral and ready to walk away from the deal will remove the "Easy Sale" from around your neck. ;)
Good luck and keep us posted. :)

thanks for the advice. well worth it to me. yes we are emotional and tend to grab what we want (if we can afford it) without thinking the consequences thru.

i have a buddy that was selling his 00 or 01 Z28 for $4500.00. Its an A4 with 100,000 miles. It has the SS hood and spoiler, chrome wheels, longtubes, and a couple other odds and ends. I think he still has it. He wants a Vette
