View Full Version : 2001 Camaro dash problems???
I bought this Camaro a couple weeks ago and was told there is a problem with the idiot lights in the dash. They told me that everything keeps working but the lights act very funny. Well right after I bought it I filled the fuel tank and saw that all the gauges seemed to wrok fine but the ABS and Check Gauges lights were on. I drove it home nearly 150 miles and while driving all of a sudden most every idiot light on the dash came on and all of the gauges except the volt guage quit working, this even icluded the tach. I stopped and shut the car off and restarted the engine and every light was still on and the tach was not working. I finished my drive home and have since used a little over half a tank of gas. Well when the gas gauge dropped below a half a tank none of the idiot light ar on and the tach is working fine. Any ideas on what it might be or where to start looking would be a great help.

I had a similar experience in a Chevy Truck. I replaced all the fuses and it solved the problem. Strange.....but true.

I recently had my 2000 Camaro worked on (mass air flow sensor) and they had asked me if my dashboard lights had been going crazy....Mine had not been doing that, but I asked them what would make the dashboard lights go crazy....they told me that that range of Camaros (2000-2002) were bad about the ignition switch going out on them and that is what causes the dashboard lights to go crazy.... probably not what you wanted to hear....but might want to have it checked out just in case....
That sounds like a question to talk to the dealer about and a little something more than I had this morning...... I sure would like to get it fixed.

I have seen fuses do this.
Good luck.

Well still no luck finding the problem in the dash. The dealer is completely lost trying to find the answer to it also. I did strike out on my top replacement also. I paid BIG dollars for a new canvas top and curtain to be installed last Friday. When I picked it up they said it is leaking through all three windows now and to allow the top to strech over the next three weeks and then see what happens. I wasnt happy at all. I contacted the manufactor and they got it back in the shop and told the guy to get it right because their name is on the top....... Maybe I will get to drive it again in a week or so.. If it were not for bad luck I would have no luck at all. Getting close to getting rid of the car and cutting my losses.
