View Full Version : 2001 Convertible top
I just bought a 2001 Camaro with a convertible top. The top does not operate properly at this time. When I let the power top down it goes very slow and will not go down completely, when putting it back up it only moves about a foot and then it has to be pulled up to get it closed. I have located the pump and see there is a small leak. I think the system is low on fluid(I hope) but I have been unable to find where the resevoir is located to check the level. I have also been told to BLEED the system. But cannot find any info on this either. The pump system has a valve located on top of it but I have no idea which direction it should be pointed or what it might do. I cannot find any help around here. I hope someone out there can give me some good guidance.
Thanks for the help.

fix the leak and add the fluid. run the top up and down a few times. I will do a little more research for you and get back to you.

Well I went to the Chevy dealer yesterday and they printed out 3 sheets of how to fill and purge the air out of the system. I did as they said and the top is going up and down smoothly now. BUT I believe the seal where the plastic resevoir hooks to the pump is leaking. Anybody have any good place in mind that might sell just the resevoir and seal??? The dealer wants almost $700 for the pump and resevoir. I got to think a new seal will stop my leak and keep the top functioning fine.
Thanks for all the help so far.....
