Ok here is my problem. I had my '02 Camaro in storage for about 9 months with the battery disconnected. I hooked up everything started it up and took it to get emisssions checked and it was showing two items (not codes) that the computer had no records (or something like that). One was the CATs not sure what the other parameter was. Anyway the guy said I needed to drive it so that the computer would "reboot". So I drove about 80 miles went back and had the same two items show no good.
Anyone have any suggestions??? Car only has 9200 miles on it so I believe it has something to do with laying it up for 9 months with battery disconnected.
Hope someone out there has a solution......... thanks...........

Comp will not reboot as long as you have PWR on it. Disconnect the battery for about 10 mins and hook it back up. That is the easiest way to reset everything!

When you put the battery back on you may have caused a surge and freaked it out. When you hooked it back up what order did you do it in? I cant remember do you put the positive on first? Also was your battery fully charged when you hooked it back up? Maybe low battery voltage on inital power up had something to do with it.

LS1's are unfamiliar territory for me...But from what I understand Ron, there is a different way to flash the PCM on them:
http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267195&highlight=pcm+reset
http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=941580&highlight=pcm+reset

from LS1Tech's LS1 PCM Diagnostics and Tuning Forum (http://ls1tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7), may be helpful to look around there.

Basically you're saying there are no SES lights, no stored codes in the PCM (due to the battery being disconnected?) and the inspection failed the cats?? No new codes have popped up during driving either?

A little more reading about cats, PCM and the grand scheme of things: http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=771434&highlight=cat+emissions

Thanks all for your inputs!!
I hooked up battery POSI first and then NEG. Battery measured 12.29 volts before I hooked it up.
There are no codes... emissions guy said that two parameters (CAT was one of them) had not "gone thru engine duty cycle" and that I needed to drive the car for it to retest/reset.
I called the dealer service department and the rep said the same thing... "you need to drive it in varying conditions and get fuel level below 1/2 tank and then the computer will retest" (reset).
Nice... but... I can't register the car without emissions passed so how do I drive it???? legally that is. Thank again!

Ron, some info " www.cleanairforce.com/docs/readiness.pdf " also " http://www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html " Step 7 of the second URL does the CAT testing. Hopefully this could be your problem

A big thanks to "bobdec" and for future reference for those that might have a similar problem.... the link to the OBDII drive cycle data worked like a charm. I went out on Monday and followed the drive cycle instructions and then stopped at the emissions station. All paramiters showed "readiness" and the car passed... all is good. Thanks again Bob... appreciate your help!

WOW!! Inever would have thought to do all that! We dont have to have emissions in Newton Co. so I dont have anything on my 97 but mufflers.
