Alright, I take the car out tonight to go meet with some tenants. I notice a noise coming from the rear. Kind of like a light rubbing. When I got to the house I dont see any evidence of rubbing anywhere. I checked the tires of course, the wheel wells, shocks, and springs. Nothing. I pushed up and down on the car and heard nothing but the shocks. So what comes to mind on the way home is axle bearings. I dont know if they have ever been replaced. The car has 130k on it. What can I expect to pay to have something like that replaced? Is it major? The last time I pulled a axle was out of a 67 Lemans and it did not have c-clips. I imagine these cars have them. It could be the brakes I guess rubbing. Since Greg changed them out I've done the old back up and stop trick to set them but I dont know if that helped or not. I'll have to jack it up this weekend and spin the tires to see where I hear it.
But so far so good. As of today i've logged 172 miles since I got it back together and other than the brake bleeding episode it has all been good. Tonight was the best, windows down 97.1 the river going and it was just floating down the road at 55mph and did get over the mark on the temp gauge between 100 and 220. It is a great driver so far. I changed the oil before I put it on the road and i'll do it again in the next month or 100 miles just to check it all out. I still need to get it tuned up. It's funny, when it is cold I hit the gas once, it starts and on take off it does not bog. It only bogs on take off after it is warm. And I still get the puff of blue smoke but only when I get on it when I leave the subdivision after puttering thru and it wont do it again. I know, valve stem seals. Oh well, add it to the list.
