Ok , I have a 95 camaro with 17" wheels, I have the original calipers and rotors on it. As anyone knows, they don"t stop the car worth a %&^$. I would like to replace them possibly with 13" rotors. Is this possible ? if so, any special modifications I need to do ? and is Baer alright ? If not , any reccomendations ? What are your thoughts on this idea ?
I wasn't particularly fond of the braking ability of my 95 Z28 when I bought it either. I replaced the rotors with drilled and slotted ones and added ceramic brake pads and the difference was amazing. Now if you just want to go out and spend a lot of money, have at it!!;)

not really interested in just going out and spending money, but I do like to buy quality. . the braking sucks... thats why I asked the pro's their opinions.

Hey DC, if I where going to upgrade, I probably would upgrade to the Corvette brakes. Its a awesome upgrade, kits are on the market, and its a **** of a lot cheaper than the Baer kit. So consider them bro!

Hey DC, I think the Corvette brakes are a good idea too. Ive talked to Nick about doing that and you have to get the bracket to hold the calipers to the car, but they work real good. Thats what Greg has on his car I believe and they just bearly fit in those 17s. But it will stop on a dime!

I appreciare it, I will see you all at Hooters, to get a little more info and some tips on what I wanna do or need to do in other matters of this ride. stopping on a dime I like, thats part of the reason why I hit that freaking deer, couldn't get it shut down fast enuff.

We are regular guys just trying to make the most of our rides DC. I think a lot of us have different opinions, but which ever way you go it will be a step in the right direction.:D

i did the LS1 front brake upgrade on my LT1 car, the LT1 has single piston calipers with 11" rotors. the LS1 uses dual piston calipers with 12" rotors. i threw on a set of drilled and slotted rotors with some Z-rated pads...stops beautfully now , and the whole deal was just under $500. you need the knuckles , calipers , rotors , and brake lines for the 98-02 car to make it work.http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t235/coprunr/stockbrakes.jpg these are the stockies [IMG]http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t235/coprunr/newbrakes.jpg these are the LS1's

I believe if you did what coprunr did it would make the diff you are lookin for. The ceramic pads are killer from what everyone I know that's got em says. i work with a guy that put em on an f150 and said it's like night and day, smooth as silk and quiet too

DC, if nothing else, upgrading to a better rotor and ceramic pads will make quite a difference. When I picked up the Z, braking sucked. Replaced with quality aftermarket rotors (not drilled or slotted) and ceramic pads. The braking is 100 times better.

Well, just from a noob....
I did the C-5 Z51 upgrade on my '81. Instant stoppies now... you can hurt yourself if you aren't careful:eek:... LOL
Check out this thread at Nasty-Z...

If you shop the parts carefully can do for around 600.... I made my own brackets. AC-Delco performance ceramics and a CPP master with internal prop valve.
Also there is a guy on there using the screen name "ebmiller"... he is the brake Guru:cool:
Only problem is no parking brake just yet... but working on that one:D Kore3 offers a kit, but it is astronimically expensive!!!

I talked to Ryan, he said when you get here yall'll sit down and talk about all your options on your brakes and other mods you want. He has a killer supplier from Miami, should be able to order all things from same place. He also has the reprograming equipment that may be needed.

i didn't think the extra inch of rotor and the extra size in pad surface would make that big of a difference....but my car stops GREAT now. i did some autocross racing couple months ago and found out my car goes great , turns great , but didn't stop very well. now it goes good , turns good , and stops like crazy. bang for buck, the LS1 upgrade with rotors crossd rilled/slotted rotors and some z-rated pads can't be beat.

My front passenger break pad just broke one day and I didn't realize it but new it was sounding bad or funny! Turns out the caliper was sticking to the rotor and and it is WAY SCRATCHED UP!! Probably can't be "turned". It's really bad!
I have always hated 2 things bout cam's and that's the breaks and the hydro-planeing!!!!!

you know, people talk of hydroplaning and I did in my camaro until I put on these goodyear fi d3's Its hard to get it to slide on the wet pavement. Some say they aren't very good , overpriced etc, I wouldn't trade them for any tire anyone else has from what I have experienced with them. ( testimonial )lol
