This is one of the small projects I am going to tackle this weekend. Any thing I should know? It looks pretty self explainitory. Remove the line, remove two bolts, gasket and install is reverse of disassembly.

Behind the pump is a push rod that'll fall down when you pull it. Put some axle grease on it and push it back up before putting pump on. That holds the rod up and will dissapate in the oil when started.

The old Hacksaw blade works too

There is a bolt on the front of the block right at the pump, it is a short (3/4") bolt. After you get the pump off remove the bolt, slide the rod up into the block and hold it, install a longer (1 1/2" or longer) bolt into the hole and snug it just enough to hold the rod up (you can feel it when it snugs). Install the new pump, then replace the original short bolt. Works every time - no muss, no fuss.

Whoa, wait a minute. This rod, do I need to see where it falls out of? Is there only one way it goes back in? Sounds like I can muck this up pretty good. Maybe i'll wait on that untill we have another get together over here.

The rod is round, square on the ends. It doesn't matter which way it goes in. Its pretty straight forward, but if you get stuck give me a ring.

I was worried there for a while. I even put it off untill just a few hours ago. The rod you all mentioned did drop. About half a inch. I pushed it back up but slid down ever so slowly. I dabbed a little grease on it and it did good enough for me to slide the pump arm in and tighten the bolts. The only trouble I had was pulling the fuel line out to re-route it. I had to drop it down lower cause the new pumps inlet was further down. It all worked out. I changed the fuel filter and it was spotless. This after about 20 minutes total run time. I did goof up the vacuum hose that runs from the choke to the top of the carb, no biggie, it is only about 3 inches long, i'll get another one. I did'nt fire it up, will do this week. It is the end of the day and I did'nt want to push it out cause if I did I would end up tinkering with it untill dark. Well, as soon as this carb gets tuned and the brakes bleed out and working good it will be time for a sanding party. Come one, come all and bring your masks. I can bribe with some fine angus beef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good. Wasn't as bad as you thought. Did you get your tires mounted?

I'm not going to mount the tires untill it gets back from being painted. When it comes back i'll polish and paint the wheels and then have them installed.

Cool. I want to see how that size fits because I need to replace my rear tires.

Well, come get two and mount them and put them on the car. If you like them just replace them and if not take them off. As long as you dont go and burn them up.:D

I appreciate that, but right now tires are 4th on the list. I have a set of Centerlines I'm thinking of putting on to see how it looks.

here is my wheels with the same size tires I have in the garage. This should give you some sort of visual. Centerlines? What type? I think the wheels you have on it now are the ticket.
