This photo was taken at the scene of a house fire that occurred over the weekend.

House fires--please read!!!!!

Received from a friend who is in the insurance property business. It is
well worth reading.

This is one of those e-mails that if you don't send it, rest assured
someone on your list will suffer for not reading it. The original
message was written by a lady whose brother and wife learned a hard
lesson this past week.

Their house burnt down.. nothing left but ashes. They have good
insurance so the house will be replaced and most of the contents. That
is the good news.

However, they were sick when they found out the cause of the fire. The
insurance investigator sifted through the ashes for several hours. He
had the cause of the fire traced to the master bathroom. He asked her
sister-in-law what she had plugged in
the bathroom. She listed the normal things....curling iron, blow dryer.
He kept saying to her, 'No, this would be something that would
disintegrate at high temperatures'. Then her sister-in-law
remembered she had a Glade Plug-In, in the bathroom.

The investigator had one of those 'Aha' moments. He said that was the
cause of the fire. He said he has seen more house fires started with
the plug-in type room fresheners than anything else. He said the
plastic they are made from is THIN. He also said that in every case
there was nothing left to prove that it even existed. When the
investigator looked in the wall plug, the two prongs left from the
plug-in were still in there.

Her sister-in-law had one of the plug-ins that had a small night light
built in it. She said she had noticed that the light would dim and then
finally go out. She would walk in to the bathroom a few hours later,
and the light would be back on again. The investigator said that the
unit was getting too hot, and would dim and go out rather than just
blow the light bulb. Once it cooled down it would come back on. That is
a warning sign

The investigator said he personally wouldn't have any type of plug in
fragrance device anywhere in his house. He has seen too many places
that have been burned down due to them.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ALL THE

Everytime I get an email with that statement in it, I check it out at myth websites. It's plausible, but inconclusive due to lack of evidence. The last paragraph in the link outlines it well.

Plug ins fire hazard? (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/glade.asp)

I never use them anyway. ;) Did you know the person whose house is in the picture?

Yeah I like that site a lot, helps to sift through the matter to find the facts. After I found that site I bookmarked it and when I get an email that warns me of something or tells me to send it to everyone, I check it out. It's funny how many good intentioned emails we get are hoaxes. Everything from AIDS tainted needles in movie theater seats to African Blush toilet spiders at airport restrooms. I always check them out and reply to the sender if they are false. Here's one reason why...

I was talking to a gentleman one day while volunteering who actually believed that Target was owned by a French corporation since he read it in an email that told him not to shop there (and so he didn't). I assured him that the Target corporation was an American company formed out of the Dayton Hudson department stores from Dayton, Ohio in 1902 and is now based in Minneapolis, MN. I knew because I was employed for 6 years with them. And he was just one guy, imagine how much business they lost over that email (http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/target.asp). The internet is a powerful tool. ;)

I got four more today and replied in kind.

Makes me feel better knowing that I don't have to worry about illegal aliens getting social security benefits (http://www.snopes.com/politics/immigration/socialsecurity.asp), bypassing Exxon or Mobil (http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasout.asp)won't help bring down the price of gas, that microcooking or freezing plastic (http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cookplastic.asp)won't give me cancer and that a huge mountail lion (http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/mountainlion.asp)isn't in the woods behind my house since I don't llive in the cascades. I feel sorry for the friend that sent me this. Her life must be difficult at best, lol. :p I think she'll check before forwarding now (or just not send them to me, lol!).

Say what? I hope you didn't mean me. :p

My parents always said they worried about my sisters' pontential to be abused by their husbands, but not me. If I could still move I'd take 'em out. :D
