I dont see how with the truck line being the bread and butter. Now I dont think we need these huge luxo suv's being driven by one person. The excursion did me in. No need for that truck in the general public. But with that said, we have lived a easy life in this country and now we are paying for it. I've said it before but this war is running our country into the ground. I support the troops fully. It is not their fault our president cannot admit he is wrong but they get my backing.
It is funny that they raised the standards and they are to take effect long after our oil tycoon president is out of office. Of course auto manufactuers have to figure out how to do this. But I loved how they like to blame us for the so called oil shortage and the high demand. When you give us only one means of fuel, build us a internal combustion engine that runs off of gasoline only what are we to do? Who's fault is it really? Not ours. No one can produce E85 cause big oil owns the patent. Check that fact out. We can go out and buy diesels and use bio fuel, but the process is really to involved and not cost effective to produce ourselves and I believe in California they have very strict rules for passenger car diesels. Big oil has us by the nads. Can we drive less? Yes. Are most of us doing that? Yes. But 35mpg does nothing for our situation. Greed, the almighty dollar runs this country, and untill special interest for the upper 1% stop running this country we will stay in the same shape we are in. Not real fair. Conflict of interest runs rampid in Washington and we have the opportunity very soon to change that. I'm not completely sold on Ron Paul but the more I read him the more I am convinced in what he can do with this country. He would make a great running mate for Obama. This is just my rant. It is not our fault for the oil crisis or fuel shortage, it is big oil and the control they have in Washington.

Bingo.
Did you see the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? (http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com/) Back in 2002-2003 when CA tried to pas legislation for zero emmissions car sales there were great little cars made with great promise for the future. Big oil swooped down on that snake and cut the head off by buying the battery patents and locking them up. Alot of automakers and customers got the shaft in that fiasco.
V8's can be made effiecient, they're generally not emmissions clean. They are big polluters and that is part of the problem.

Yep, saw that one too. They really have a strangle hold on us. Most people dont realize that. They make these feel good commercials saying they invest in the future of alternative fuels and so on and so forth. It is crap. They are looking for ways for it to be just as or if not more profitable before they will come across as heros when they roll it out. And look who let them do it. Our government. It is funny listening to all the caddy women sitting around yapping about how they are going to do thier part and drive less as they hop into thier Suburbans and Expeditons on thier way to pick up thier one kid. I drive less, and when I drive somewhere I take the wifes 32 mpg 04 Malibu instead of the Silverado, but it is not paying off. Gas prices keep rising and rising. We are in a lose-lose situation. If we use too much they raise it cause of demand (which is the biggest scam going. We use the same amounts each year at the same times each year. Produce the oil at the rate of demand, you know when it is going to happen, no surprises here brainiacs.). We use less they produce less there for we get shafted by economics 101 again, lower production due to less use = raise in price still. The fat cats on wall street are sitting back predicting futures dont need to bet on predictions. Just look at the rate of consumption for the last say ummm...................20 years and you will see what the demand will be. I have to stop on this topic, my head is about to explode thinking of all the ways they are getting over on us. We can thank Dick Cheney for this. Him and his Haliburton boys taking care of each other.

Along those lines, there is a company that makes a way for engines to run on water (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/car-runs-on-water-inventor-to-be-kidnapped-by-exxon-177716.php) basically. Some big company bought the rights to the tech and is sitting on it. How's that for getting the shaft?
If they could make as much money selling water for the price of gas, it would have been done already. What a greedy world we live in.

We are sitting on the worlds largest oil reserve and the enviromentalist wackos will not let us go get it. Heck we have not built a oil refinery since 1976.This is our fault for voting these clowns in. In November YOU have a chance to change this path.So make your vote count. America is more important than a Elk or a fly. Don't let the global warming fools run this country. Remember we become a stronger country if we can break away from our dependance on forgien oil. We can rule the markets and set our own prices with the availibilty of this oil. Let the ARABS sell it to China and India.shiftin
If you are referring to ANWAR then its not going to happen.. Im not a tree hugger, and i dont even support it. As an Alaskan, i was there when the whole stink happened last time. It will literally destroy parts of Alaska.

There is plenty of oil in the gulf and Anwar is uninhabited. What they want to use in Alaska is only a small part of the Anwar area.Oil was put on this earth to use.It is a natural resource and now they say it is a finite resorce. Oil is the fuel for the economy. The more we have the better the economyshiftin

The electric car Drove one for 2 years a Rav4 The summer they are great A/c running quiet and will go. The winter you defrost the windows are turn it off (heat) leave it on you will not make it back! You will need a charging at home 30 mile round trip no heat and no interstate and one at work if you do either.after the second year the battery will 25 mile round trip.
after 3 to 4 years you will have to get a new battery. What I was told then about 50,000 plus the kilowatt hours you used to charge the battery I wish I could remember all the cost. at todays gas prices 40 a week X52 = 2080 4 X years = 8,320 So the total electric car Not there yet
